Why This Work Matters to Me

36 years married, and still learning together.

I've been married to my high school sweetheart since November 17, 1984 — almost 42 years of dating and 36 adventurous, fulfilling years of marriage. Together we have three wonderful children, seven treasured grandchildren, and two beloved fur babies who keep our home joyfully chaotic.

That's not just my story — it's part of why I do this work. I've lived through the real seasons of a long marriage, and I bring that lived experience into the room alongside my clinical training.

A Framework I Teach Couples

The Four Pillars of Love™

I've designed four pillars that I believe are crucial to a strong marriage — without fulfillment of all of them, a marriage will struggle to thrive. These are often the main reason couples disconnect, no matter how long they've been together.

1

Spiritual Intimacy

Sharing faith, values, and a sense of shared purpose as a couple.

2

Emotional Intimacy

Feeling truly known, heard, and safe with your partner.

3

Physical Intimacy

Connection and affection that keeps a marriage close, not just cordial.

4

Financial Intimacy

Shared honesty and teamwork around money and long-term goals.

The takeaway: you might be strong in one area but lacking in another — and you need to nurture and succeed in all four pillars to build a thriving, lasting, fulfilling marriage.
